Already have a lawyer?

Want a second opinion? It’s your case — and your right.

You don’t have to be on your own to use Accident Answer NYC. New York injury law — especially the Labor Law and No-Fault — is a specialty within a specialty, and not every attorney works in it every day. If you’re not certain your case is being pursued to its full potential, a second opinion costs nothing and can confirm that nothing is being left on the table.

This is about making sure nothing is missed — not second-guessing good lawyers. General information, not legal advice.

Cases get undervalued quietly

A missed Labor Law argument, an extra responsible party, or an unused insurance layer doesn't announce itself.

Switching rarely doubles your fee

In a contingency case the single fee is generally split between firms, not charged twice.

A fresh look at your deadlines

Confirm that notice requirements, No-Fault applications, and filing deadlines are all protected.

Common questions, answered

How long do I have to file an injury claim in New York?

New York generally gives you three years from the date of the accident to file a personal-injury lawsuit. Claims against a public entity such as the MTA or the City require a Notice of Claim within about 90 days, and wrongful-death claims have a two-year limit.

Does New York's No-Fault insurance cover my medical bills?

Yes. After most vehicle crashes, your own auto insurance pays your initial medical bills and part of your lost wages up to a $50,000 basic-economic-loss limit, no matter who caused the crash. No-Fault does not pay for pain and suffering.

When can I sue for pain and suffering after a crash?

Only if your injury meets New York's serious-injury threshold under Insurance Law 5102(d) — for example a fracture, significant disfigurement, a permanent limitation, or a disability lasting at least 90 of the 180 days after the accident.

What is New York Labor Law 240, the Scaffold Law?

Labor Law 240 gives construction workers strong protection for gravity-related injuries such as falls from scaffolds or ladders or being struck by falling objects. When proper safety equipment is not provided, contractors and owners can face strict liability beyond workers' compensation.

How much does a New York injury lawyer cost?

Most injury attorneys work on contingency: no fee unless they recover for you, with the fee taken as a percentage of the recovery. A consultation or case review is free, so asking costs nothing.
